Emerson Edward…My little meester,

This past Sunday we participated in the baby dedication at church! I want this to be some perfect post that you can read someday to know just how special this day was but I’m not certain I can actually put it into words.

Our lives were blessed beyond compare the day that the Lord handed us to you. He has allowed us the priveledge of raising you and guiding you. That opportunity is one that brings tears to my eyes just thinking of it. The huge and powerful impact that we will have on who you become is almost overwhelming at times. We desire so badly that you grow to love the Lord and come to a saving faith in Him. We long for you to give your whole life over to Him and allow His purpose for your life to shine through. We pray that you will have joy, peace, love, comfort…but at the same time you will be wildly passionate, strong, bold, unique, and love like crazy!

We are so not equipped on our own to raise that type of man! On our own that challenge is daunting and brings fear. That is why we dedicate to let the Lord lead us in that journey, to guide and prepare us and to keep our eyes and desires fixed on His ways and not our own. You have always belonged to God. There was never even one moment that you have been just ours. He is there with you each day and we dedicate to acknowledge that you are His in front of our church body and to commit to raising you to be a man of God. And you not only have us but a body of believers with you as well.

I can’t say in words the love I have for you. It grows with every breathe I take and the joy I hold being your mom is beyond measure. I thank God for you and the day you claim Jesus in your own life will be a glorious day (a day when I will shed tears of pure thankfulness and joy).

I love you sweet boy!

You make your daddy and I such blessed parents.

“As surely as you live, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you praying to the LORD. I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD.” ….
