Emerson’s first big fall

Emerson…buddy boy,

This past week, at 19 months you had your first really significant fall. Not just a bumped head but a real fall that resulted in real blood. And a mom who was really sad she didn’t move just a tad quicker.

Mom was doing her workout class and when it ended I went in to where you were playing with some friends. An indoor play area with a climbing net and a slide and all that fun stuff (think McDonalds but safer, cleaner, and a place I would want you to play). πŸ˜‰ Β So anywho…you saw me and as usual you got bright eyed with a big grin and came to find your way out of the area when you found yourself at the top of the climbing net. Mommy had grabbed your shoes and was at the bottom of the net telling you “I’m coming, wait just a second” when it happened. With a huge smile you stepped onto the net and your first few seconds came with graceful sliding down until your foot got caught. sigh. 😦 You flipped swiftly forward and your sweet face went smack down onto the level I was on. Right in front of my face. Double 😦 You immediately had blood all over your face and I swept you up as quickly as possible. Friends rushed to get paper towels and you buried your increasingly bloody face into my shoulder and wept. And wept.

If only I’d gotten there a second sooner. But I didn’t. There was bound to be a day that I didn’t.

Oh how thankful I am for just a bloody, and noticeably fat (but still adorable) lip. Thankful that all that blood wasn’t more serious and that you’re alright. Thankful that I get to be the one to clean you up, make sure you’re alright and hold you tight. You clung pretty tight to me that whole morning. I can’t say I minded that. πŸ˜‰ Ahhh yes, I’m a boy mom and this will undoubtedly happen again. But this first big fall I will never forget.

I love you sweet boy. I love you and your big fat lip. πŸ˜‰

Emerson’s first trip to the pumpkin patch

Adam and I’s attempts at getting a pic with him. πŸ™‚

This was Emerson’s first pumpkin patch experience. Mommy could go everyday because they are just so fun! When we walked around the corner he exclaimed “BALL” and ran to the pumpkins trying to pick them up. He kept trying until he found the little ones and began throwing all of the “balls” on the ground. It was too cute. We did redirect him to avoid having a little pumpkin smasher on our hands. πŸ˜‰ Β Emerson quickly realized there was hay on the ground so we played with that for a minute…or five and forgot all about the “balls”. πŸ˜‰

We had a great time feeding the lambs, goats, and bunnies. Emerson had no fear and just went right to touching and feeding them. He did whack a Llama that could have bit his head off but it didn’t seem to notice. Poor Llama probably gets a few toddler whacks each day.

We had some food, played, and did a little pumpkin shopping before we headed home.

Boy was our little man tuckered out from that morning of fun. πŸ™‚

Emerson Edward has officially had his very first bubble bath!

Adam was VERY excited and ready to achieve this milestone (daddy is typically the main bath giver at night).

On the same night we transitioned from the baby/toddler tub to the big tub (since he began to climb out of his smaller tub). Have I mentioned that in our cozy little apartment our son’s room has the garden tub? What’s the deal-ioh with that?

So here’s the big moment:

What's all this?

I think we thought that since he squeals when we turn the water on for bath time we would get some over the top crazy happy response at the bubble addition, but he mostly observed in his own wonderful way.

But right after….(when he normally cries)
