Apparently I forgot to publish a couple of posts…lets for back about a month..:)
Since the vows Adam and I have always opted for an artificial tree. I’m not sure we’ve ever had a full size one but we have done several tabletops and one propped up by a box on one side because the leg broke and we were also…broke. 😉 Adam has mentioned through the years his longing for a real, beastly tree in all of its evergreen smelling glory. This year was it! We went with some sweet friends and their youngster to find and cut down our perfect tree. Honestly we asked if someone could cut it for us and the reply that “eight years olds do this” got us in the sawing spirit.
We hunted and hunted and hunted some more. Then we decided to go look down the way and took a fun wagon ride together. It was such a fun memory together to find a tree cut it down, swing, watch some piglets race, and ride on a wagon! Finally we did find a tree and Adam cut it down (in about 23 seconds). It’s not beastly, but its perfect!
Oh the excitement of the pig race!!!
Mommy did not get the “look at the camera and don’t close your eyes” memo 🙂
Look at that lumberjack! 😉
So glad there are fun things like this to go do and make sweet memories.
I really do not think I could tell you how overly pumped I was for my very first Mothers Day. I think I was convinced that it would be the very best day ever, and I was not disappointed. It wasn’t all of the hoopla of the stuff (flowers, lunch, jewelry, etc.) that mommy’s of little ones get that got me so excited, but the fact that I am FINALLY a mom on Mother’s Day! Yay! I have children (child)!
Of course on top of my “top of the world” feeling I already had, Emerson and Adam made the day even more special. I could tell Adam wanted to make this first Mothers Day wonderful and thoughtful and something I’d never forget. He succeeded. 🙂 He more than succeeded.
I knew he’d been working on something special because I was asked to leave the house a couple of times because he “had something to do”. Plus I wasn’t allowed to take E with me soooo… 😉
I woke up that morning to a framed hand and footprint with a spot for a picture of Emerson (which looks like it may have been a simple project but I assure you Adam had his work cut out for him with this project). I had been saying for months and months that we need to do his hand and foot print but had never gotten around to it. Leave it to the sweet husband I have been blessed with to make it happen. I was also gifted a facial and pedicure at a spa! I am not the type to go out and pamper myself with these things so for him to do it for me was awesome! The whole day was just great, although every day with my two handsome guys is great! 🙂
I know not every Mothers Day will bring pampering and gifts but I will never forget this one! Thanks to my amazingly thoughtful hubby and baby boy. I love you both. Two of the greatest roles of my entire life will always be wife and mommy.
We also got a few cute pics of him that weekend…one of which I used in my frame and the others to send to the grandma’s. I’ll share a few of them with you. 🙂
Such a wonderful life.

Well…one of the things I almost dislike about blogging is that holidays make it REALLY obvious when I’m way behind on my posts. But then again, if you know me in “real” life…you already understand. So…
He is Risen! Ha. Fortunately Easter marks the yearly celebration of that fact so in reality I am not behind in saying that. He is always risen! (but the eggs might be bad by now :/).
So Easter for us is not really all that different since having a babe…he isn’t even one so there is really no need for any big hoopla in that area, but we did have a vastly different Easter from previous from the church point of view. My dad was in town at the time so he attended Good Friday service and Easter service with us. I find so much joy in going to church these days! I try (although I often fail) to worship God with all of my days so when I haven’t enjoyed Sundays as much for a period of time it isn’t and shouldn’t be that big of a deal because the church is an addition place for community, accountability, worship, etc. and my life with the Lord goes on even when that lacks. Even so, I am seriously looking forward to each time I get to enter the doors of our current church! Anyways, all that to say both services were thought provoking and challenging and focused us more on the cross. Thank you Jesus. 🙂
We also got the chance to work in the nursery and ended up in Emerson’s room. That age is hilarious…basically crawling around tearing each other’s name tags off and trying to eat them while we try to not let that happen. I think we had them all at the end. I think. 😉
On Easter afternoon we got to go to an Easter dinner with some lovely new friends and have an egg hunt. Emerson didn’t really participate but was very happy when given an egg. 🙂
We also did a small Easter basket for him with bubbles, bath toys, and an Easter book. That was the best part…sitting around together reading his new book to him and reflecting on the power of the cross. I am sure there will be resurrection bread and eggs, and bunnies in our future but for now the simplicity is wonderful.
Don’t mind if I do. 🙂
For me? Can we go take a bath now
I love it!
He is Risen indeed!
